Dragons Bounce Campbell to Win Seventh Straight, 18-8

BUIES CREEK, N.C. - Seven different Dragons scored as the Drexel women's lacrosse team defeated Campbell in Buies Creek, N.C. Sunday afternoon, 18-8. Drexel (8-2, 3-0) have now won seven straight, the longest since the 2021 season. Bea Buckley led the way with a career-high seven points, collecting the first hat-trick of her career while adding four assists.
Drexel scores a pair of goals to open the contest. Bridget Finley found Kate Quinn, who dumped it just in front of the cage. Anna Maria Gragnani followed up by taking one herself in for the goal. Rasa Welsh got the Camel's on the board with her first tally of the day. She accounted for half of the Camel's eight goals. The Dragons finished on a run to end the quarter, with Caroline Senich, Quin, and Ellie Wall hitting the back of the net. Kate Marano aided in two of those scores.
Buckley began the second quarter by getting a shot on goal, extending the lead to 6-1. Campbell cut the lead down to just two with three straight scores within five minutes. Welsh added two as Chloe Annibell got another with the women-up situation. Drexel countered with a 4-0 run to finish the half. Buckley fired in two as Senich and Quinn accounted for scores.
Both teams were evenly matched after halftime, with Campbell finally breaking a scoreless drought at the 7:20 mark. Welsh scored her fourth of the night to bring Campbell back to within five. Gragnani was able to break through two defenders to sink another in for the Dragons. Marano quickly piled on another, with Buckley setting it up. Campbell found a way through the cage again, but Quinn responded less than a minute later for the first hatty of her career with the dish from Marano. The Dallas, Texas had a career-high five dimes in the game.
The Camels got started quickly in the fourth, with Bridget Ahlegen getting through the crease. The Dragons stayed hot with a pair of goals from Finley and Mary Claire Heubeck, the first two of Heubeck's career. Buckley earned three of her four assets in this sequence. McKenna Dunan broke up the Drexel scoring streak, before Wall ended the game with her second of the day.
Jenika Cuocco recorded 11 stops in the game, backing up a 12 save performance against Delaware.
The Dragons return home after a two-game road trip to battle Towson on Saturday, March 29. Opening draw is set for 3:30 p.m. in Philadelphia.
