MOUNT PLEASANT, S.C. – The Drexel softball team was defeated by the Charleston Cougars on Saturday afternoon, 2-0. The Cougars scored both of their runs in the fourth inning and held Drexel to just three hits.
Madison Taylor started in the circle and went six innings, holding Charleston to just five hits and two runs. The junior only surrendered one walk in the outing.
Izzy Alamillo, Lana Mooney and Violet Marta all collected hits in the game. Mooney's hit was a double in the fourth inning.
Charleston scored two runs in the fourth inning after hitting a pair of singles and scoring on the second. The second run was scored by way of a sacrifice bunt.
The Dragons return to Mount Pleasant for the series finale on Sunday afternoon. The Dragons and Cougars are set to begin Sunday's game at noon.
