PHILADELPHIA - Drexel goalkeeper Brendan Donnelly has been named this week's CAA Defensive Player of the Week. The sophomore had one of his best career games in a pivotal win at CAA foe Hofstra on Saturday.
Donnelly, who is from nearby Audobon, Pa., turned aside 13 Hofstra shots in a 14-6 win on Long Island last Saturday. He made six of those in the third quarter when the Dragons broke open the game to improve to 3-2 in league play. Donnelly took over the starting duties in the cage at the beginning of league play and has won three of his five starts. He has a .559 save percentage, which is second in the CAA.
The Dragons (6-6) have two key games remaining in the regular season. They start the stretch on Saturday with a home game against Stony Brook beginning at 12 p.m.
