Drexel's Late Comeback Stifled by Towson

Violet Marta started in the circle for Drexel and went 1.2 innings before being relieved by Sidney Toukonen, who finished the game for Drexel.
Four Dragons recorded two hits for Drexel in Friday's series-opener against the Tigers. Izzy Alamillo went 2-for-4 with an RBI and run scored, while Kylah Reading also turned in a 2-for-4 performance with a run scored.
Lily Meuninck and Ariana Castillo each recorded two hits in four at-bats. Castillo notched two RBIs.
Towson scored four runs in the first inning to take an early four-run advantage. Drexel managed to chip into the deficit when Castillo hit a single through the right side.
The Tigers extended their lead by scoring two in the bottom of the second, three in the bottom of the third and another three runs in the bottom of the fourth. In the fifth inning, with Drexel's backs to the wall, the Dragons pieced together a seven-run inning.
Garza singled to center to score Alamillo. A batter later, Devyn Demchak hit a single through the right side and scored Reading and moved Garza to third. Meuninck reached by error, which scored Drexel's third run of the inning, Reading. Castillo hit a single to right field and scored Bergmann. The Dragons then scored another run on a Lana Mooney fielder's choice that scored Meuninck. The Dragons scored their final run of the inning by way of an Alamillo single. After the fifth inning was over, Drexel just trailed by four.
Towson scored two runs in the sixth inning and managed to hold Drexel in check in the top of the seventh to end the game.
Drexel returns to Towson on Saturday to face the Tigers in game two of the three-game series.
