VILLANOVA, Pa. – The Drexel softball team was defeated by the Villanova Wildcats, 12-0, on Wednesday afternoon at the Villanova Softball Complex.
Madison Taylor started in the circle for Drexel and went two innings, striking out one batter. Violet Marta entered the game in relief and pitched two innings as well, striking out two batters.
Kelsie Peters picked up Drexel's lone hit on Wednesday, hitting a single in the third inning.
Villanova scored three runs in the first inning to take the lead. In the second frame, the Wildcats added on a run to push their lead to four. The home team added a pair of runs in the third and six in the fourth to defeat Drexel.
Drexel returns to action on Friday afternoon. The Dragons host the Elon Phoenix to a three-game series at the Drexel Softball Field. First pitch on Friday is slated for 3 p.m. The two teams return to Vidas on Saturday to play at noon and finish the series on Sunday at 11 a.m.
