Dragons to Start 2026 Against Hofstra

PHILADELPHIA – The Drexel men's basketball team will play its first game of 2026 Saturday when it faces the Hofstra Pride at the Daskalakis Athletic Center. Tip-off is scheduled for 2 p.m. The International Brotherhood of Electrical Worker's Local 98 is once again the presenting sponsor of Drexel Men's Basketball.
ABOUT DREXEL
The Dragons are 6-9 after dropping a road game to the UNCW Seahawks on Wednesday, 65-53. Eli Beard led the team with 14 points. Beard finished the night shooting 44% from three in addition to pulling in a rebound and stealing the ball once. Garfield Turner scored 13 while rebounding the ball six times and blocking a shot. Victor Panov led the team with eight rebounds while also scoring eight and blocking a shot. The Dragons outrebounded the Seahawks 39-36, and their defense held the Seahawks to just three three-pointers all night.
ABOUT HOFSTRA
The Pride are 10-4 after winning five straight. Speedy Claxton coaches them in his fifth season as head coach. Junior Cruz Davis leads the team with 21.3 points per game.
THE SERIES
This will be the 101st time the two teams have played. Hofstra leads the all-time series 51-49. The Dragons defeated the Pride last season, 60-55, at home. The two teams will play again this season on March 3 in Hempstead.
