Men's Basketball to Host Northeastern Saturday

PHILADELPHIA – The Drexel men's basketball team is set to host the Northeastern Huskies on Saturday, January 24. Tip-off is scheduled for 2 p.m. The International Brotherhood of Electrical Worker's Local 98 is once again the presenting sponsor of Drexel Men's Basketball.
THE CLASS OF 2026
Prior to tip on Saturday morning, Drexel greats Malik Rose and Bill Herrion will be inducted into the Janet E. And Barry C. Burkholder Athletics Hall of Fame as the Class of 2026. Rose and Herrion led the Dragons to three straight conference championships and three NCAA appearances from 1994-1996. In their final season together, the Dragons rattled off 27 wins, including 15 in a row, and won the North Atlantic Conference championship to punch Drexel's third straight ticket to the NCAA Tournament. In the first round of the tournament, the Dragons secured a 75-63 upset against fifth-seeded Memphis, giving Drexel its first and only NCAA Tournament victory. During a media timeout of Drexel's game against Northeastern, Rose and Herrion, will be honored for their induction into Drexel's Hall of Fame. The two will be joined by the three NCAA teams.
LAST TIME OUT
The Dragons dropped a close, 59-58 road game to the Towson Tigers on Monday afternoon. Shane Blakeney led the team with 16 points. Blakeney shot 64% on the afternoon while pulling in three rebounds, handing out two assists and stealing the ball. Kevon Vanderhorst scored 11 points to go with four rebounds, two steals and two assists. Victor Panov had 10 points on 57% shooting along with three rebounds, a block and a steal. Defensively, the Dragons held the Tigers to 33% shooting and outblocked them 4-1.
ABOUT NORTHEASTERN
The Huskies are 6-13 after falling to the Stony Brook Seawolves on Thursday, 95-80. They are coached by Bill Coen in his 20th season at Northeastern. Senior LA Pratt leads the team with 17 points per game.
