Dragons Fall to #20 UAlbany, 17-9

PHILADELPHIA – The Drexel men's lacrosse team was defeated by the No. 20 UAlbany Great Danes, 17-9 on Saturday afternoon at Vidas Field. It is Drexel's first loss of the season.
Three different Dragons scored two goals in Saturday's contest. Teddy Luthy took two shots and converted on both, as well as Jack Porter. Lincoln Wall also picked up two tallies on the day.
UAlbany opened the game with two goals to take a quick two-goal lead by the 12-minute mark. Liam Kammar picked up an unassisted goal with 7:25 remaining to put Drexel on the board. Five minutes later, Caden Zadell added another to send the game into the second frame, tied at two.
UAlbany opened the second quarter adding two more goals to lead 4-2. Luthy added his first goal of the day on a pass from Liam Luzza. The Great Danes scored five unanswered goals to end the half ahead, 9-3.
Drexel opened the scoring in the third quarter with a Lincoln Wall goal from Owen Knight. The two teams started trading goals. Luthy added his second goal of the game with 8:32 remaining. Lincoln Wall checked in at 5:26 third.
UAlbany scored five unanswered goals to close the third frame and begin the fourth. DU answered back with three goals in a four-minute span. Porter scored his first goal of the game with 7:44 remaining. Ty Gougler converted a minute later on a pass from Anthony Chiango. Porter converted on his second goal with 4:35 remaining in the quarter to finish Drexel's run. UAlbany added a goal with three minutes left to play.
The Dragons return to Vidas Field on Saturday, February 28 to play the Mercer Bears at 11 a.m. Action can be seen on FloCollege.
