CARROLLTON, Ga. – Drexel softball capped the West Georgia Opening Weekend with a 5–2 win over West Georgia on Sunday morning at University Field.

How It Happened
Drexel jumped in front early in the top of the first. Kylah Reading doubled down the left-field line, moved to third on a Jackie Masone sacrifice bunt, and Kalea Calugay drove in two with a home run to left-center for a 2–0 lead.

West Georgia got on the board in the third, using a walk and a stolen base to set up an RBI groundout that made it 2–1. The Wolves tied it in the fourth after a triple and an RBI single.

Calugay put Drexel back in front in the top of the fourth with her second home run of the game, a solo shot to left, to make it 3–2.

The Dragons added insurance in the sixth. Calugay walked and eventually scored on a throwing error to extend the lead to 4–2.

Drexel tacked on one more in the seventh. Masone reached on a bunt single, moved into scoring position, and came home on a West Georgia error to push the margin to 5–2. In the bottom half, Claire Kols worked around a two-out baserunner to close out the complete-game win.

By the Numbers

Kalea Calugay went 2-for-3 with two home runs, three RBI, three runs scored, and a walk.

Kylah Reading finished 2-for-4 with a double and a run scored.

Courtney Kols threw a complete game, allowing two runs on four hits with one walk and one strikeout in 7.0 innings.

Drexel totaled eight hits and drew four walks.
