PHILADELPHIA – Drexel softball defeated Stony Brook, 8–4, on Sunday afternoon at the Drexel Softball Field to take the weekend series. The Dragons improved to 13–11 overall and 3–3 in CAA play.

How It Happened

Drexel opened the scoring in the second inning as Macie Bergmann hit a solo home run to left field.

Stony Brook took advantage of two Drexel errors in the third inning to score a pair of unearned runs and take a 2–1 lead.

The Dragons responded in the fourth inning as Natalie Alldred delivered a two-RBI double to give Drexel the lead. Bergmann followed with an RBI single to extend the advantage to 4–2.

Drexel added four more runs in the fifth inning. Jackie Masone drove in a run with a bunt single before Bergmann recorded a two-RBI single. Annabelle Smink later brought in a run as the Dragons extended the lead to 8–2.

Stony Brook added two runs in the sixth, but Drexel held on for the 8–4 victory.

By the Numbers

Macie Bergmann went 3-for-3 with a home run and four RBI.

Natalie Alldred finished 2-for-3 with a double and two RBI.

Jackie Masone recorded two hits and scored two runs.

Drexel totaled nine hits in the game.

Courtney Kols earned the win, allowing two earned runs over 7.0 innings with five strikeouts.
