PHILADELPHIA – Drexel softball defeated Cornell, 14-6, in five innings on Monday afternoon, improving to 14-15 on the season.
How It Happened
Drexel broke the game open in the bottom of the first inning with 10 runs. Olivia Sciulli scored on an error to open the scoring. Jackie Masone followed with a single that drove in two runs, and Macie Bergmann doubled to left center to bring in two more. Mckenna Rowlands added a sacrifice fly to score a run before Kalea Calugay hit a solo home run to center field. Quinn Cunnigham scored on a walk by Sciulli, and another run came in on a wild pitch. Kelsie Peters capped the inning with a sacrifice fly to make it 10-0.
Cornell answered in the top of the second inning with a double to left center that drove in two runs.
Drexel added a run in the bottom of the second when Quinn Cunnigham hit a sacrifice fly to score Rowlands.
Cornell scored four runs in the fourth inning on a single, a double that brought in two runs, and another RBI single to cut the deficit to 11-6.
Drexel added three runs in the bottom of the fifth inning. A run scored on a wild pitch before Mckenna Rowlands singled to drive in a run. Kalea Calugay added an RBI on a fielder's choice to secure the 14-6 win.

Kylah Reading went 2-for-4 with two runs scored.
Kalea Calugay recorded a home run and two RBI.
Mckenna Rowlands finished with two hits and two RBI.
Macie Bergmann added a double and two RBI.
