RICHMOND, Va. — Elena Bontatibus was named CAA Offensive Player of the Week following her eight-point performance against Monmouth on Wednesday. This marks the Simsbury, Conn., native's first CAA weekly honor of her career.
Bontatibus recorded a career-high five goals and added three assists in the 15-10 win over the Hawks, helping keep Drexel's playoff hopes alive. She nearly doubled her season point total, entering the midweek conference matchup with just nine points. The junior set the tone early for the Dragons, notching two assists and a goal within the first 10 minutes of play. She totaled five of her points in the first half and added a fourth-quarter goal to halt the Hawks' three-goal rally.
The Dragons make the short trip to Center City for a non-conference battle with Temple on Tuesday, April 21. The opening draw from Howarth Field is set for 3 p.m.
