PHILADELPHIA.– Drexel Field Hockey continues its win streak, beating Wagner 7-0. The Dragons improve to 4-1 on the year.

BY THE NUMBERS

Valentine Van Hellemont scored the first two goals. Marking her second multi-goal game in a row.

Cato Nackaerts tallied one goal and one assist for the Dragons.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Dragons continued their trend for early goals as just over a minute into the first quarter, the Dragons earned a penalty corner. Van Hellemont would insert the corner for Nackaerts who passed it back to Van Hellemont for the quick goal. Van Hellemont would strike again as a Wagner deflection into the circle allowed the Belgian native to pounce on the ball in front of the keeper, putting it into the back of the cage. The Dragons would score three minutes into the second quarter; after earning a penalty corner, Nackaerts would receive the pass and fire the ball into a defender. The freshman stayed with the play, fought for the ball, and shot again right into the back of the net, putting the Dragons up 3-0. Ten minutes later, the ball would find itself just outside of the opposing circle as Kylah Kelly whipped a pass-through defenders where it found Ryan Hickey for the goal. In the last minute of the third quarter, the Dragons were awarded a penalty stroke. Fleur Hamers stepped up to the spot to take it. After the whistle blew, Hamers scooped the ball to the top left corner out of the goalie's reach. The Dragons would tally two more in the fourth as Van Hellemont dribbled from midfield to right before the circle and swung the ball to Hamers, who unselfishly passed it across the net to a waiting Maya Williams, all alone, who tapped the ball in to make it 6-0. The Dragons' final goal came with four minutes left in the game. As Hamers was dribbling and gave it up to Kushma, who perfectly executed a give-and-go right back to Hamers, who made it behind the defense and dove to get her stick on the ball and put it in the back of the cage.
