Andrea Grasso joined the Drexel Field Hockey coaching staff in 2010 after completing an eight-year stint as Villanova University's Assistant Coach.
Grasso specializes in goalkeeping and plays a large role in the development of the defensive unit. She also assists with game and practice preparation, recruiting, scouting, and running camps.
In January of 2011, Grasso was a speaker at the National Field Hockey Coaches Association. In spring of that same year, she was also awarded Level II coaching accreditation from USA Field Hockey.
She is part of the coaching staff for the USA Field Hockey (USFHA) at the High Performance Training Centers at the New Jersey/Pennsylvania site, where she works primarily with goalkeepers. In 2011, the New Jersey Region captured gold at the Senior Women’s National Championship held at American University. She was also part of the coaching staff of the Futures Elite team that same year.
In June 2007, Grasso's team sealed a first place finish, as well as three individual player accolades, at the Women's National Championship in Virginia Beach, Va., where her goalkeepers only allowed seven goals throughout the tournament. In the summer of 2006 she was named as a Selector for the National Futures Tournament for the U-14 and U-16 goalkeepers.
Prior to that, she coached the goalkeepers at the Region 7 Delaware Futures site from 1999-01, before serving as a Regional Selector in 2004 for Region 7 Maryland in the same categories. Grasso was also an assistant director at Eastern Field Hockey Camp, CE Camps, Villanova and various field hockey camps throughout the summer.
Grasso graduated from the University of Delaware in May of 2002 with a degree in communications and a minor in English. She has also been an adjunct professor at Immaculata College specializing in Health and Exercise Science. Grasso is currently working towards her master’s of science degree in Human Nutrition Didactic Program in Dietetics (DPD) at Drexel University.
