2016: Took the majority of the team’s face-offs as a sophomore…won 94 face offs, including a season-best 12 on two occasions…was 12-for-17 in the win against UMass…also had a key assist and a season-high eight ground balls vs. the minutemen…won 12 draws against Maryland…picked up an assist and was 11-for-17 on face-offs vs. Fairfield…led the team with 37 ground balls…a CAA Commissioner’s Academic Award Winner.
2015: Moved to face-off specialist during the fall and was the Dragons’ top reserve at the position…played in seven games…took eight face-offs and won four of them, including two of three at Maryland… a CAA Commissioner’s Academic Award winner.
2014: Redshirted.
Background: Attended Lafayette High School just outside of Syracuse...was the captain of his team as a senior, when he was a Second Team All-League selection...also played basketball at Lafayette and was an All-League selection on the hardwood as well...a member of the High Honor Roll.
Personal: Son of Ronda and Wahid Akl...one of four children...majoring in finance.
