2017-18: Finished with a 20-7 record as a graduate student at 157 pounds…placed third at EIWA Championships…automatic NCAA qualifier…2018 NSCA All-American Athletes…earned EIWA Academic Achievement Award honors…named to the Philadelphia Inquirer Academic All-Area At-Large Team…named to the 2018 National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) Division I All-Academic Individual Team…placed fifth at the Southern Scuffle in his season debut…placed fifth at the Millersville Open…had one win by fall, one technical fall and five major decision victories…ranked No. 21 in the final NCAA Coaches Panel Ranking…earned a consolation round win by fall over Princeton’s Mike D’Angelo at NCAAs.
2016-17: His first season with the Dragons was cut short due to injury in just his second appearance of the season…pinned his opponent 29 seconds into the match against Shippensburg for what would be his only victory of the year.
Background: A transfer from Penn State, where he was a starter as a redshirt freshman…finished the 2014-15 season ranked 19th overall in the coaches ranking for the 165 weight class…was a two-time Academic All-Big Ten selection and a 2015 NWCA National All-Academic First Team pick…a two-time state champion during his time wrestling for Chambersburg Area Senior High School…was a state finalist three times in his high school career.
Personal: Son of Mark and Lori Hammond…is a triplet with brother, Ian, and sister, Aubrey…his brother Ian also currently attends Drexel and is a manager for the wrestling team…a graduate student working towards his master’s degree in sport management.
