
Dragons Drop Dual to American, 28-10

Northampton, Pa. - Drexel lost a non-conference match to American, 28-10, at Northampton High School. American took the first seven matches of the meet to seal the victory while the Dragons rebounded to take the 184, 197 and 285 pound matches. Justin Wieller and Jon Oplinger both won matches at their high school alma mater. The loss dropped the Dragons' record to 1-4 on the season.
Drexel forfeited the 125-pound match as three-time NCAA qualifier Steve Mytych is out with an injury. At 133 pounds, Jasen Borschoff used a three-point near fall in the final period to squeak out a 6-5 decision over Drexel's Frank Cimato. The Eagles won the 141 and 149 pound matches with bonus points as Matt Mariarcher defeated Matt Dugan, 9-0, and Kyle Borschoff scored a technicall fall against Kyle Palmer at 5:00. At 157 pounds, Billy Haydt dropped a 6-0 decision to Pat Graham while Scott Hunter was edged by Chris Stout, 6-5, at 165 pounds. Sixth-ranked Michael Cannon tacked on a four-point technical fall over Brian Stouffer before Wieller ended the Eagles' run with an 8-1 decision over Andrew Semple. Oplinger recorded his 10th win of the season with a 19-7 major decision win over Charles Sliber. The senior 197-pounder racked up six takedowns in the victory. At 285 pounds, Kyle Frey pulled out a 9-7 overtime win against Quinton Pruett. Frey's takedown in extra time was his only one of the match.
The Dragons return to action on Dec. 14 as Drexel travels to Lock Haven, Pa. to compete in the Lock Haven Duals.
