Philadelphia – Rookie Nathan Page came up with a goal and an assist to help Drexel mount a 2-0 lead over Virginia Commonwealth (3-7-2, 0-5-1) in the first half. But the Dragons (5-6-1, 1-3-1) saw their advantage dissipate in the final 10 minutes of play as the teams played to a 2-2 draw on a cold and rainy night at Vidas Field. The teams played a tight first half despite the Dragons taking a 2-0 lead. But from the 46th minute on, VCU outshot the Dragons 15-10 and outcornered Drexel 14-2. The Rams held a 17-2 advantage in corner kicks in the contest and used one to put in the equalizing goal in the waning minutes of regulation.

Drexel showed energy early on a cold, rainy night at Vidas Field, but did not break through until midway through the first half. Mike Crosse retrieved a pass from Nathan Page at the top of the 18-yard box and ripped a shot to the right side of the goal, giving Drexel a 1-0 lead.
Rookie Malcolm LeBourne showed well in the front line in the first half. He used his speed and footwork to slice past a pair of defenders in the goal box and get a look at the goalie one-on-one, but his shot slid just wide of the right post early in the match. He had another look on a breakaway counter attack, but his shot found nothing but the waiting hands of keeper Gabriel Rodriguez. Fabio Assumpcao also got a look with 10 minutes left in the period when he juggled the ball to himself at the top of the box and turned to smash a volley to the center of the goal where Rodriguez saved it again.
The tide turned in the second half as Virginia Commonwealth would outscore the Dragons 2-1 in the period to knot the match at 2-2 and send it into overtime.
Drexel would take a 2-0 lead when Cole Feffer and Nathan Page worked a give-and-go play on the left side of the goal box. Page finished off Feffer's pass with a goal in the lower right side of the net. The tally gave Drexel a 2-0 cushion in the 54th minute but the Dragons could not hold to it.
The Rams got their first goal on a penalty kick that was the result of a hand ball in the box. Ramirio Blandon deposited the free chance in the lower left corner of the net in the 81st minute to cut Drexel's lead in half.
VCU earned 12 corner kicks in the second half and capitalized on the final one as Ramirio Blandon found the head of 6-foot-4 James Neighbor on the near post for the equalizer with less than two minutes left.
The Dragons had a late chance in the final 10 seconds with a corner kick opportunity. As the ball was cleared out, Ben Miller put a shot on goal from 45 yards out, but time expired before his blast found the net and the match entered overtime.
VCU picked up two more corner kicks in the first extra period, but failed to score on either and the contest moved into double overtime knotted at 2-2. Neither team put a shot on goal in the final extra stanza and the contest concluded in a draw.
