Dragons to Tussle With Huskies Tonight in Boston

Boston - Drexel men's soccer travels to play Northeastern today at 2:00 p.m. The Huskies have won four of their last five matches in conference play, including a pair of shutouts turned in by their keeper Scott Partridge last week. The Dragons will look to snap a the Huskies' streak of holding opponents off the board and claim their second CAA win of the season today. Fans can follow the match via livestats by clicking here.

Last Meeting: In their last contest, Drexel's Mike Crosse provided the golden goal victory for the Dragons with just 47 seconds left in the final overtime period. Senior Carlos Ruthner served a cross to the right side of the box where a charging Crosse left the ground as he connected for a header into the back of the net ending the game with a final score of 2-1. Drexel got on the board first as Ruthner finished off a build up that utilized both Leland Raum and Max Crockett. The Huskies received their equalizer in the form of a penalty kick taken by Alexander Volk. Drexel keeper Cory Robertson made six saves in the game while Scott Partridge made four stops for the Huskies. The game was Drexel's third overtime win of the season.
Entering the Match: The Dragons relinquished a 2-0 lead in a 2-2 draw with VCU last Saturday. Mike Crosse gave Drexel the early lead in the 28th minute when he received a pass at the top of the box from rookie Nathan Page and deposited a blast to the right side of the net. Shortly after the second half began Page was able to create another opportunity this time with help from Cole Feffer. Page took the final pass on a give-and-go with Feffer where he found some space on the left hand side of the net and beat keeper Gabriel Rodriguez for the goal. The Rams fought back with a penalty kick in the 81st minute taken by Romario Blandon. In the final two minutes of regulation, Blandon recorded the game tying assist as he found the head of James Neighbor for a goal off one of 17 total corners for the Rams. The game would work through two overtime periods without a tally and end 2-2. Freshman Tres Heffron made seven saves for the Dragons in net while Rodriguez followed suit with seven of his own before he was relieved by Andrew Wells due to injury.
Players to Watch: Rookie Nathan Page continues his aggressive play at midfield for the Dragons. Page recorded four points in Saturday's match with a goal and an assist to help give Drexel the early lead. Page stepped up when senior Anthony Bafile went down early in the season with an injury. Since then, Page has played in and started eight straight games for Drexel along side Senior Fabio Assumpcao. Freshman Malcolm LeBourne also continues his dominance whether playing in the back line or up top. In Saturday's match LeBourne generated multiple scoring chances for the Dragons as he evaded defenders and got open looks on net.
Senior keeper Scott Partridge was named CAA Co-Player of the week for the week beginning Oct. 19th. Partridge posted two consecutive shutouts (four overall) against Towson and George Mason last week. Partridge also boasts a CAA-leading .620 Goals Against Average with just three goals allowed in five conference games. Partridge will be looking to keep his streak alive at home for the Huskies.
Up Next: The Dragons will return to play on Saturday October 24th as they invite the James Madison Dukes to Vidas Field. The match kicks off at 4:00 p.m.
