Dragons Finish Fourth Among 21 Teams at Lafayette Invitational

Center Valley, Pa. - The Drexel golf team finished ahead of 17 teams as the Dragons took fourth place at the 2009 Lafayette Invitational. The Dragons were tied for the lead after the first round of the two-round event but were overtaken. Drexel shot a 306 for each of the rounds but Lehigh, Villanova and Delaware slipped past the Dragons in the final round. Two Drexel golfers finished in the top 10 individually as Trevor Sahn tied for fifth with a three-over par 147 while Sean Semenetz tied for eighth with a 148. Sahn was just two strokes off of the top score for the tournament.
Drexel came out strong as Sahn posted a 74 while Semenetz was a stroke behind at 75. Senior Mike Carr carded a 77 while Andy Frank and Mike Serensits recorded an 80 and 82, respectively, as Drexel headed into round two tied with Delaware for the tournament lead. The Dragons continued their solid golf as Sahn and Semenetz fired one-over-par 73's while Carr and Semenetz recorded 80's. The eventual winner, Lehigh, shaved 30 strokes off of its score in the second round to claim the title and finish 20 strokes ahead of Drexel.
The Dragons return to action on April 13 to compete in the Swarthmore Invitational.
