The Drexel women's soccer team makes its final road trip of the season starting on Friday night. The Dragons will face James Madison before traveling to Richmond to play VCU.
Drexel is 1-1-1 in its last three matches. The Dragons (5-8-1, 1-4-1) defeated Old Dominion on Sunday, 5-1. It was Drexel's first win ever over the Lady Monarchs and the five goals were the most the Dragons have scored in a CAA match. Juniors Jenna Lindsay and Ashley Klun each had a goal and an assist in the victory. Lindsay is now tied for second in career goals at Drexel with 18 and tied for third in career points. Also scoring goals for the Dragons were Sam Greenfield, Sydney Douglas and Courtney Wylie. Freshman Jess Lowinger picked up a pair of assists. Goalkeeper Nicole Sinclair made eight saves against ODU.
James Madison is 8-6 overall and tied for third in the CAA with a 4-2 conference mark. The Dukes defeated UNC Wilmington, 2-1, on Sunday. Junior Ariana Ruela scored the game-winning goal at UNCW with just 19:48 remaining. Senior Teresa Rynier leads the Dukes with seven goals, six assist and 20 points. Rynier's 82 career points ranks fifth all-time at JMU.
VCU, the Dragons opponent on Sunday, drew with Georgia State on Sunday, 0-0. VCU's defense has allowed just three goals in the past four games, but is 0-2-2 over that span. Goalkeeper Megan Lynch made two saves in the shutout at Georgia State. Her six shutouts are tied for the CAA lead.
The Dragons return to Philadelphia and close the regular season with three home matches. Towson, George Mason and Delaware will play at Vidas in the span of eight days later in the month.
