Box Score
Philadelphia - UNC Wilmington (6-3-0, 2-0) scored in the 20th minute and held on for a 1-0 victory on Alumni Day at Vidas Field. The loss was Drexel's first home defeat of the season and drops the Dragons to 4-4-1 overall and 0-2 in conference play.
Michael Parrish gave the Seahawks a 1-0 lead in the 20th minute on a well-struck volley from 20 yards out. The ball made its way out to Parrish after the Dragons' defense attempted to clear it from the goal box on a throw-in. Parrish caught the ball out of the air with a waist-high kick that bent over the defense and dove into the net just below the crossbar.
UNCW outshot the Dragons 14-10, including six on target. Each team earned four corner kicks. Drexel's Pentti Pussinen made six stops in net, while Brock Duckworth made two saves for the Seahawks to earn his fifth cleansheet of the season.
The Seahawks seized momentum at the onset of the second half by putting three shots on goal through the first 15 minutes of play. Etienne Boulanger earned a free kick from 25 yards out after being fouled on a break-away. The ensuing blast from Nassim Berhouni only found the Dragons' wall however.
Drexel's most promising scoring chance came with just under 25 minutes to play in the second half when Nate Baker strung together a pass to Nathan Page on the right side of the goal box. Page carried the ball for two touches before taking his shot, which went wide into the side netting.
The Dragons are back in action on Wednesday, Oct. 6 when they host George Mason at 7:00 p.m. at Vidas Field.
