
Dragons Come up Scoreless in Road Loss to VCU

Richmond, Va. - Drexel lost its third straight road match, in shutout fashion, falling to Virginia Commonwealth 2-0 in Richmond. The Dragons fall to 7-7-1 on the season and 3-5 in CAA play while the Rams improve to 6-2-6 overall and 3-1-4 in the conference.
Drexel was outshot 20-8 in the match and the Rams earned five corner kicks to the Dragons' four. Keeper Pentti Pussinen made four stops in net for Drexel while VCU keeper Josh Pantazelos made four saves in his second start of the season.
The Dragons trailed 1-0 at halftime as result of a C.J. Gehin-Scott rebound goal in the 37th minute. Drexel had two quality scoring opportunities in the period on break-aways by Malcolm LeBourne and Anthony Bafile, but neither Dragon could convert an equalizer.
VCU slammed the door on the match in the waning minutes of play when Jason Johnson knocked home a cross from Jake Van Yahres in the lower left corner of the goal, putting the Rams on top 2-0.
The Dragons return to Vidas Field on Wednesday, Oct. 27 when they face Northeastern in a 7:00 p.m. match.
