Box Score
Harrisonburg, Va. - Drexel scored three or more goals for the fourth time in the last five games as the 18th-ranked Dragons outlast James Madison, 3-2. Freshman Lindsay McArdle scored her first career goal while Kim Tunell and Christina Mastropaolo each added a goal and an assist as the Dragons moved to 8-3 (3-0 CAA) while the Dukes fell to 7-6 (3-1 CAA).
McArdle picked an opportune time for her first collegiate goal as she scored on a Kim Tunell assist off of a penalty corner 7:29 into the game to give Drexel an early lead. Just over four minutes later, Becky Hilger knotted the score after deflecting a penalty corner for the Dukes. With less than 10 minutes remaining in the first half, Tunell blasted a penalty corner into the cage to send the Dragons to the break with a 2-1 lead.
The Dragons got a key insurance goal from Mastropaolo when the senior slammed home a shot off of an Amanda Fleischut pass that gave Drexel a 3-1 edge at 45:16. The two-goal lead would be short-lived as the Dukes needed less than two minutes before Dolores de Rooij answered on an Amy Daniel pass. The Drexel defense stood strong the rest of the way as goalie Jenna Phillips registered eight saves on the day as the Dragons remained in a tie atop the Colonial Athletic Association standings.
Despite the final score, the Dukes held an 18-15 advantage in shots and an 8-6 edge in penalty corners. Margo Savage made five saves while allowing all three Drexel goals.
