Men's Soccer Closes Out 2010 Season Against Old Dominion on Senior Day

Philadelphia - Drexel men's soccer (7-9-1, 3-7-0) is set to conclude its 2010 season at home to duel with the Monarchs of Old Dominion University (8-6-2, 4-4-2) on Saturday night. The game is set for 7:00 p.m. at Vidas Field. The Dragons will honor nine seniors prior to the match as part of festivities on Senior Night. Drexel (7-9-1, 3-7-0) is looking to close out the season with a big win over the Monarchs, who beat Northeastern in their last CAA match. Drexel will also be honoring the accomplishments and contributions of seniors Thiago Assumpcao, Nate Baker, Dan Vignola, Justin Johnson, Buzz Conzentino, Andrew Stolle, Max Crockett, Cory Rohlefsen and Anthony Bafile.
Despite losing the last four matches, the Dragons are in the three-way tie with VCU and George Mason for fifth for most goals scored this season. Drexel has outscored its opponents this season (27-24), with most of the scoring taking place in the second half of play (20 goals). The Dragons have also posted fourth most saves in the conference with 50.
Captain Anthony Bafile had three goals and three assists this season. Senior Dan Vignola scored his first career goal in the final minute against Northeastern last Wednesday. Senior Nate Baker is a team point leader this season with three goals and five assists. Justin Johnson and Cory Rohlfsen contributed to the Dragons defense while Andrew Stolle, with one assist this season, and Buzz Conzentino contributed high energy to the team. Max Crockett was a steady leadership force with appearances in 11 games.
All eight of the seniors on this year's roster, and Thiago Assumpcao, who finished his playing career last year due to injuries, will be recognized in a ceremony approximately 15 minutes before the kick-off Saturday night.
Old Dominion, who is currently tied for fourth place in the CAA, most recently beat Northeastern 1-0 in double overtime and remains in the hunt for a CAA Tournament spot. Senior goal keeper Evan Newton made six saves against the Huskies and recorded his fifth shutout. Jordan LeBlanc has scored four of the Monarchs' 11 goals during CAA play.
The Monarchs have dominated the series, holding a 7-1-2 advantage since the teams first met in 2001. Old Dominion has won the last two contests, with its lone loss against the Dragons coming in the teams' 2002 meeting.
