Women's Lacrosse Sees Winning Streak Snapped at Johns Hopkins

Baltimore, Md. - Drexel women's lacrosse had its four-game winning streak halted at Johns Hopkins as the Dragons trailed by just two goals at halftime but were unable to score in the second half as Drexel lost, 12-1. The loss dropped the Dragons to 8-2 on the season while the Blue Jays improved to 7-4. Katie Lawson scored Drexel's lone goal in the first half while the hosts Katie Duffey who tallied four goals.
The game was a defensive struggle early with neither team able to find the back of the net in the first 16 minutes of the game. Duffey finally broke the scoreless deadlock with a goal with 13:10 remaining then added another less than a minute later. Lawson scored with 9:51 left in the first half but the Blue Jays responded with the final tally of the frame as Brianna Cronin scored with 8:34 left. The Dragons went to the break down just 3-1.
The Blue Jays put the game out of reach early in the second with three goals in the first eight minutes of the period. Johns Hopkins went on to score nine in the frame to register the victory. Drexel was outshot 35-10 for the game while Drexel's Whitney Johnson and John Hopkins' Cosette Larash each made nine saves. All 10 of Drexel's shots in the game were on goal. The Blue Jays won 10 of the game's 15 draws.
Drexel opens its conference season on April 9 as Old Dominion visit Vidas Field at 4:00 p.m.
