Philadelphia - The Drexel men's lacrosse team hosts CAA-rival Penn State on Saturday at 4 p.m. The game can be seen live on The Comcast Network. The Dragons, eighth in the nation in the latest USILA Poll, are 8-2 this season and 1-0 in conference play. Part of the proceeds from today's game go to the We Believe Foundation. The "Just Check 'Em" campaign raises money and awareness for testicular cancer.
The Dragons have a balanced offense with five players that have scored at least 11 goals. Scott Perri has 31 points to lead the club (16 goals, 15 assists). Colin Ambler has 29 points on 14 goals and 15 assists. Freshman Robert Church, last week's CAA Player and Rookie of the Week, leads the team with 24 goals. He had seven in the win against Hofstra on Saturday. Kevin Stockel (14) and Adam Dennis (11) are the other Dragons in double figures in goals. Mark Manos has a .602 save percentage and a goals against average of 7.75. He leads the CAA in both categories.
Penn State (1-8, 0-1) is coming off a 10-8 loss to No. 7 UMass on Saturday. it was the Lions fourth loss by three goals or less. Matthew Mackrides leads Penn state with 30 points off 25 goals and five assists. He is also tops on the team in ground balls with 34. Mackrides ranks among the CAA's leaders in points, goals and ground balls. Freshman Billy Gribbin has 23 points, while Chris Hogan has 20 points. Senior Charley Henneghan has a .610 face off percentage, having won 61 of 100.
