Game Notes
Towson, Md. - In search of their second straight road win, Drexel visits Towson this afternoon in their last road game of the regular season. The Tigers (8-19, 3-13) are coming off a loss to UNC Wilmington, while the Dragons prevailed over Northeastern on Thursday thanks to 15 points from freshly minted 1,000-point scorer Kamile Nacickaite. Tip time is set for 2:00 p.m. today and fans can catch all the action with a live audio broadcast on Drexel Game Central.
Nacickaite put in 15 points to lead the Dragons in Boston on Thursday. She notched her 1,000th career point with a pull-up jumper at the 11:34 mark in the first half. The Dragons shot 53.7 percent in the game and held a lead as large at 17 points. Some late three-pointers by the Huskies cut that lead down to six points, but the cagey play of veteran Jasmina Rosseel down the stretch helped the Dragons split the Northeastern press and convert some easy baskets in the final minutes. Rosseel led the team with four assists without committing a turnover.
The Tigers are coming off a loss to UNC Wilmington 76-47 at home on Thursday. Krystal Parnell and Krystin Fields led the team with 12 points in the game. But the Tigers committed 23 turnovers and shot just 37 percent in the loss.
The Dragons and Tigers met on Feb. 3 of this season in a game that was televised on Comcast SportsNet. Drexel pulled out a 45-43 victory over Towson in overtime. The game was the lowest combined scoring overtime contest in Drexel's history. Parnell sent the game into overtime with a layup in the final seconds of regulation. Rosseel was the Drexel hero in overtime, hitting a three-pointer with a minute and a half left and Nacickaite and Tyler Hale converted 5-of-6 from the free throw line in the final seconds of the win.
Drexel is looking for its 14th win against Towson on the road in the second most contested rivalry in the history of the program. The team's are meeting for the 58th time since 1982 and Drexel holds a 38-18 edge in the all-time series.
