Box Score
Washington, D.C. - Paige Collings bashed two home runs and drove in three to help the Dragons (7-10) win the nightcap at Georgetown (6-21) 4-2 and earn a split of Tuesday's doubleheader in the nation's capital. Collings matched the program's single-game record for homers, a mark which has been reached three times in the team's last four games during a power surge for the Dragons' offense.
Shelby Taylor recorded the complete-game victory, scattering eight hits through seven innings, allowing two earned runs and striking out five Hoyas.
Mackensey Carter, who was Georgetown's offensive hero in game one, took the loss in game two. She allowed four earned runs on six hits without a walk and struck out five batters in six innings of work.
Drexel amassed a 4-0 lead through six innings of play. Collings hit her first homerun of the game to center field in the fourth inning.
Collings' second blast came in the sixth inning with Laura Stagliano on base to give Drexel a 3-0 lead. Devon Metcalf singled and stole second before Taylor helped her own pitching cause with an RBI single to close out scoring in the inning with Drexel on top 4-0.
A two-out, two-RBI single by Jillian Webb in the bottom of the seventh inning pushed across Georgetown's only runs of the game. Taylor induced a game ending pop out by Jordan Hansen to end the game and salvage a split of the Tuesday twinbill.
The Dragons open CAA play on Saturday with a doubleheader against Hofstra at Drexel Field at 11:00 a.m.
