Philadelphia – The Dragons dominated play in a 19-3 win against Bucknell (1-3). Drexel (3-1) outshot the Bison 44-14 and had 11 players score at least one goal. Drexel's 19 goals is the most scored in a single games by the Dragons since 2009.
Junior Charlotte Wood tied her career high with six goals in the home opener at Vidas Field. Wood now has 18 goals on the season. Teammate Jacklyn Kunder led the team with four assists and scored twice against the Bucknell Bison.
The Dragons put pressure on the Bison early as Charlotte Wood and Alyse Maiden scored within the opening minute of the game. Bucknell's Julia Braun put in a free position goal and looked to create momentum for the Bison.
Wood answered with an unassisted goal and started a five-goal rally as teammates Jaclyn Klunder, Kelli Joran, Alyse Maiden, and Katie Blazer put points on the board for Drexel. The Dragons were up by eight, 10-2, at the end of the first half and held on to the lead for the remainder of the game.
On the defensive end, senior goalkeeper Whitney Johnson earned the win and registered three saves. Amanda Santandrea played the entire second half and had a season-high six saves. Freshman Amanda Norcini led the team in groundballs.
The Dragons return to action on Sunday, March 13 at 3:00 p.m. against Binghamton at Vidas Field.
