Philadelphia - In hopes of snapping a five-game conference losing streak, the Drexel softball Dragons (9-21, 1-8) head south this weekend for a three-game set against the UNC Wilmington Seahawks (11-31, 3-6). Drexel went 1-1 in mid-week play with a win over La Salle and a loss to Saint Joseph's this week. Livestats will be available for all three games by clicking here. Saturday's doubleheader has been moved up to a 11:00 a.m. start due to the threat of inclement weather. Sunday's game is slated for a 12:00 p.m. opening pitch.
Hillary Allen turned in one of the best outings of her career in the circle at La Salle on Tuesday. The junior hurler threw a complete-game five-hit shutout and struck out a career-high 10 batters. Paige Collings added another home run to her team-leading total (7) and is now just one round-tripper away from matching her own, and the program's, single-season record for home runs.
The Seahawks enter the weekend looking to get back on track after being swept Tuesday in a mid-week doubleheader by Campbell. UNC Wilmington won its last conference series 2-1 against Towson last weekend. The team's only other win in CAA play was against James Madison two weekends ago.
Big Bats: Sophomore Lauryn Buckworth continues to pace the Seahawks attack with a .298 batting average and 14 RBI while senior Caitlin Cavarra ranks second in both batting average (.271) and RBI (11).
Ace of the Staff: Junior Amanda Davenport leads the team with a 3.44 ERA in 16 appearances while senior Amanda Aditays ranks among the league leaders in strikeouts with 85 in 99.2 innings pitched.
All-Time Series: Drexel leads the all-time series with UNC Wilmington 14-11. The teams have met 25 times altogether, including 21 contests as members of the CAA. Drexel has won nine of its last 11 against the Seahawks and took the last two of three against UNCW after losing the series opener at Drexel Field last season.
