Philadelphia - The Drexel men's lacrosse team hosts Towson in a must-win game on Saturday at Vidas Field. The Dragons need a win to stay alive in the race for a spot in the upcoming Colonial Athletic Association Tournament. Saturday is also Senior Day and will be the last home appearance for David Sleeper, John Ciavarelli, Dan Layfield and Scott Perri.
The Dragons are 6-6 overall and 2-3 in CAA play. Drexel needs a victory and for Penn State to lose its next two contests at Hofstra and Delaware in order to advance to the CAA Tournament for the fifth straight season. Perri enters the game in the top 10 nationally in goals, assists and points per game and also leads the conference in all three categories. Mark Manos made 18 saves in Drexel's last contest, a heartbreaking 11-10 loss in triple overtime at No. 14 UMass.
The Tigers are 2-9 overall and looking for their first CAA win. They have lost five in a row, but four of those losses were by just one goal. Their two wins came at Mount St. Mary's and against then No. 5 Stony Brook. Matt Hughes leads the Tigers with 16 goals and 21 points. Pat Britton is the only other Tiger with more than 10 goals. He has 13 on the season.
Drexel closes the regular season next weekend at St. John's in a non-conference game.
