Philadelphia – The Drexel field hockey team hosts the Lafayette Leopards on Friday, September 16 at 7:00 p.m. at Buckley Field. The Dragons enter the contest with a 4-2 record after falling to No.4 Connecticut, 2-0, on Sunday in Storrs.
The Dragons return to University City after competing in three-straight road contests. Last weekend, sophomore forward Elise DiDonato set a new career high with two assists in the 3-0 win over Sacred Heart, while teammate Kim Chiarelli posted a career high with four saves against No. 4 Connecticut.
Lafayette leads the all-time series 21-4. Last season, Drexel scored the game's final three goals in the last 10 minutes to rally past Lafayette, 3-2. Kim Tunell completed the stunning turnaround with a goal on a penalty corner with just four seconds remaining in the game. The win extended the team's winning streak to nine games. Jen Cairone and Susan Ciufo scored the other Drexel goals.
The Leopards dropped to 1-3 overall after a 8-0 loss against No. 1 North Carolina on Sunday. Lafayette picked up its only win of the season against Temple.
