Wylie's Big Day Leads Women's Soccer Past Hofstra, 3-0

Philadelphia - Courtney Wylie scored two goals and set up another as Drexel won its third straight match with a 3-0 decision against Hofstra. The win gave the Dragons (10-2-2, 4-1-1 Colonial Athletic Association) their first ever 10-win season. It was the first CAA loss of the season for the Pride (8-5, 4-1 CAA) and the first time Drexel defeated its long-time rival since the 2001 season.

The match was scoreless until the 65^th minute when the Dragons broke the drought. Wylie sent in a ball from the left side to Gabby Dixon, who was stationed at the top of the box. The freshman dropped a pass back to Alyssa Findlay who lofted a shot over Hofstra's Emily Morphitis, who leaped but could not stop the shot. It was Findlay's first goal of the year.

The score remained 1-0 until Drexel was awarded a penalty kick in the 84^th minute of play. Jess Lowinger made a nice move around a Hofstra defender and was fouled in the box. Wylie took the kick, and promptly gave the Dragons a two-goal cushion when she put it in the left corner for her first score of 2012. Wylie wasn't done with her career-day. With less than two minutes to play, Wylie had a free kick after a Pride foul and scored once again to make the final 3-0.

Despite giving up three goals, the Pride outshot Drexel, 13-10. Drexel keeper Eve Badana had another strong performance in goal, picking up a season-high eight saves. The sophomore now has eight shutouts this season, including three in a row and four in the last five matches. The Dragons' defense has given up just nine goals in its 14 matches this season.

With the win, the Dragons extended their home-field unbeaten streak to 13 matches. Drexel is now 4-0-1 this year at Vidas Field and 9-0-4 over the last two seasons.

The Dragons return to the field on Thursday afternoon when they play Old Dominion in Norfolk, Va. It will be the team's final meeting as members of the CAA. The match gets underway at 4 p.m.
