Philadelphia – The Drexel women's lacrosse team defeated Colgate, 12-7, on Wednesday afternoon at Vidas Field. The Dragons scored eight unanswered goals and maintained a six-point lead at halftime, 8-2. At the start of the second half, Colgate went on a five-goal run cutting Drexel's lead to only two points, 9-7. The Dragons netted three more goals late in the half to secure the win. The Dragons outshot Colgate, 22-18, and held a 13-8 advantage in draw controls. The squad improved to 6-1 overall and 3-0 at home, while Raiders fell to 3-4 on the season.

With just under eight minutes off of the clock, senior midfielder Kelli Joran dodged defenders and bounced the ball into the back of the goal. In the following 19 minutes of play, the Dragons scored seven more goals creating an 8-0 cushion. At 6:12, Colgate's Lauren Gorajek had a successful free position attempt ending Drexel's rally. Alison Flood added another point for the Raiders before halftime. Drexel led 8-2 at intermission.

Colgate opened the second half on the attacking end. The visitors netted five goals and trailed by two goals, 9-7, with 20 minutes remaining in the contest. At 12:59, Alissa Watts scored an unassisted goal. Drexel scored two open net goals securing a five-goal lead, 12-7, until the game clock expired.

Six different players scored for the Dragons. Joran tied the team-high with four goals against the Raiders. She has scored in each of the Dragons' games this year and leads the team with 19 goals. Joran is also 11th on Drexel's all-time leaderboard with 83 goals and 14th on the all-time list with 101 points. Maiden set a team-high and tied her career-best with three assists. She is ranked fourth on Drexel's all-time assists leaderboard . Watts registered two goals for a new season-high. Maiden and Palace added two points along with goals by Rudloff and Kopenhaver.

Defensively, Norcini tied her season-high with two caused turnovers. Sophomore goalkeeper Teresha Bradley tied her season-best with seven saves. She now has 32 stops on the season.

The Dragons will continue their four-game home stretch on Sunday, March 17 as the Dragons host non-conference opponent Louisville. The game is set for 1:00 p.m. at Vidas Field.
