Philadelphia - The Drexel women's lacrosse team defeated George Mason, 10-5, on Friday night at Vidas Field. The game was even at half time, 3-3, until the Dragons went on a five-goal spurt in the final 30 minutes of play to secure their fourth straight win. The Dragons improved to 10-3 overall and 3-0 in conference play. George Mason dropped to 5-8 overall and 0-4 in the league.

In the opening five minutes of play, senior midfielder Kelli Joran bounced the ball past opposing goalkeeper Caroline Brouse. Following a blocked free-position attempt by Drexel, the Patriots pushed the ball downfield and into the attacking end. Sophomore goalkeeper Teresha Bradley blocked an incoming shot from George Mason's Katie Mascolo. The visiting attacker recovered the loose ball and scored off of her own rebound to even the score, 1-1. Sophomore attacker Alissa Watts added a goal in the next play after a draw control win by Joran.

At 14:57, Maiden came from behind the right side of the cage and fed the ball to freshman Emily Duffey, who fired a one-timer into the back of the goal to extend the Dragons' lead to two, 3-1. Seven minutes later, George Mason's Rachel Obregon converted on a free-position attempt. With only 11 seconds showing on the clock, Mascolo tied the game, 3-3.

Joran scored two goals at the start of the second half helping the Dragons to their fifth lead of the night, 5-3. At 17:42, the Patriots' Allie Hilderbrandt netted an unassisted goal. Drexel scored five unanswered goals, including three-goal by Maiden along with points by Joelle Hartke and Jessica Rudloff. With under a minute to go in the final half, George Mason's Rachel Obregon tallied her second goal of the night. Drexel finished with a 10-5 win over the Patriots.

Maiden led the attack with three goals and an assist for four points. Maiden moved to seventh on Drexel's all-time leaderboard with 161 career points. Joran also had a hat trick and is currently 13th on Drexel's all-time list with 112 career points. Watts tied her career-high with two caused turnovers. Bradley finished with eight saves totaling 83 stops on the season. Opposing goalkeeper Caroline Brouse also finished with eight saves.

The Dragons will host James Madison on April 14 at 1:00 p.m. at Vidas Field. Prior to Sunday's contest, Drexel will recognize and honor its six graduating seniors.
