Malvern, Pa. - Drexel's Chris Crawford shot four-under-par on the first 36 holes and won the individual title at the Villanova Wildcat Invitational held at White Manor Country Club. Crawford finished the tournament with a 212, one-under-par on the 7,055-yard course. The Dragons placed seventh overall as a team in the 16-team field.
The teams attempted to play 36 holes on Monday before finishing the competition on Tuesday. Due to darkness, the teams had to finish the final three holes in the morning before the final round. Crawford, who finished four strokes ahead of his nearest competitor, made those three count by making three straight birdies to end his second 18 with a 68. That was the lowest round of anyone in the tournament.
Ben Hinge tied for 31st overall in his first appearance of the spring. The senior finished with a 75 on his way to a 230. Freshman Yoseph Dance had a 234, including a 75 in his second round. Closing out the Drexel scoring was Andrew Feldman, who carded a 241.
Columbia was the overall winner at 892. The Lions finished just one shot ahead of Army. Binghamton was four off the pace, followed by Youngstown State (897), Rhode Island (907) and Delaware (907). The Dragons finished just four shots behind the Rams and the Blue Hens at 911. They finished ahead of La Salle, Butler, Wagner, Villanova, Lehigh, Monmouth, Fordham, Manhattan and Bucknell.
