Softball Beats North Carolina A&T Saturday on Seventh-Inning RBI Double

HAMPTON, Va. - The Drexel softball team defeated North Carolina A&T, 1-0 in its first game of the Lady Pirate Classic on Saturday afternoon. Sharon Zamora knocked in the game-winning run with a double in the bottom of the seventh to give the Dragons the win in walk-off fashion.
Strong defense from both squads caused the game to remain scoreless into the seventh inning. In the top of the inning, Taylor L. Lee gave up a one-out single but then was able to force a fly-out and a ground-out from the next two batters to hold the Aggies scoreless.
Jourdan Skirha got things started for Drexel with one out in the bottom of the seventh as she hit a double into center field. Then Zamora came to the plate and sent another double down the left field line that would bring Skirha across the plate and give the Dragons a walk-off victory.
Lee picks up her second win of the season after shutting out the Aggies and holding them to five hits.
With the win, the Dragons improve to 4-3 on the year, while North Carolina A&T moves to 6-8 overall.
Drexel will return to action tomorrow as they close out the tournament with a 1:00 game against Hampton.
