PHILADELPHIA - The Drexel softball team fell to No. 7 James Madison, 8-0 after five innings on Sunday as the Dragons and Dukes wrapped up the weekend series. The nationally ranked Dukes remain undefeated in conference action after sweeping the series with the Dragons.
James Madison's Megan Good tossed a perfect game and totaled five strike-outs on the outing. The Dukes' offense got James Madison on the board in the top of the third as Taylor Newton singled to right field to drive in the runners from second and third. The Dukes would go on to extend their lead to 8-0 after five hits and an error allowed six runs to cross the plate in the fourth. The Dragons were unable to retaliate and would ultimately fall by an 8-0 deficit after five innings as the mercy rule was enforced.
With the loss the Dragons move to 16-25 overall and 0-11 in conference action, while the Dukes improve to an impressive 37-3, 12-0 CAA.
The Dragons return to action this Tuesday as they are set to host Philadelphia neighbor La Salle for a single game beginning at 4 p.m.
