Daly Pitches Perfect Game in 11-0 Shutout Victory Against Cornell

MADEIRA BEACH, FLA. – Brooklyn Daly pitched a perfect game to help propel the Drexel softball team to an 11-0 victory against Cornell in six innings at the Madeira Beach Spring Invitational on Saturday evening.
Drexel jumped out to a 5-0 lead immediately in the first frame. Kristi DiMeo and Reilly Jo Swanson kicked things off with RBI singles while a walk and a Jenelle Ladrido single down the left line pushed three more runs across the plate.
Two more runs were tallied on for the Dragons in the second and third frames before a four-run sixth inning broke the game open to give Drexel the 11-0 victory. Linda Rush reached on a fielder's choice to send in Sarah Clinton before DiMeo hit a single, plating Elena Woulfe. A wild pitch then gave an opportunity for Rush to score an unearned run and a Hannah Walker single up the middle gave the Dragons' their 11th run to end the game early.
Daly picked up her second win of the season, pitching a perfect game while striking out four in six innings of work. Walker and Rush each went 2-for-3 while DiMeo went 2-for-4.
The Dragons will continue action in the Madeira Beach Spring Invitational tonight against South Dakota.
