WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Drexel women's lacrosse team fell to 1-2 on Saturday when the Dragons lost at No. 20 Georgetown, 16-5. The Hoyas jumped on top quickly, scoring nine of the game's first 10 goals and never trailing as Drexel could not get going offensively.
The Hoyas controlled possession, outdrawing Drexel 16-7, and took a 4-0 lead before the Dragons got on the board with a Claire Jarema goal at the 20:28 mark of the first half. Undaunted, Georgetown rattled off five more in a row before Jamie Schneidereith and Sophia Watkinson scored late in the half, sending Drexel into the break down 10-3. Any hopes of a comeback were dashed when the Hoyas once again scored four straight to open the second half.
Maggie Stetson did not score a goal but dished out three assists for a team-best three points on Saturday. Colleen Grady and Courtney Dietzel also scored for Drexel, with Karson Harris handing out two assists. Dietzel had the lone caused turnover of the afternoon for the Dragons as well, and Harris won four of the team's seven draws.
Drexel will return to Vidas Field for its next outing, a week from Saturday on Mar. 2 against Rutgers. That game is set to get underway at noon.
