COLLEGE PARK, MD. – Hannah Walker and Linda Rush each hit a home run as Drexel softball fell to Rhode Island, 12-6, on Friday afternoon in day one of the Maryland Invitational.
After falling behind a run, Drexel fought back with two to take the lead in the bottom of the first with a two-run homer off the bat of Linda Rush. Things quickly changed, though, as Rhode Island used two four-run innings to jump out to a 10-3 lead by the end of the fourth.
Drexel was able to cut the deficit down to four in the fifth inning with three runs thanks to a Hannah Walker homerun, however, it was not enough as Rhode Island finished with an 12-6 victory.
The Dragons will return to action tomorrow for a doubleheader against Rhode Island and Bryant in day two of the Maryland Invitational.
