Softball Gears Up for Hampton Blue and White Classic this Weekend

PHILADELPHIA – After a weekend off from games, Drexel softball gets right back to work when it travels to Norfolk, Va. for the Hampton Blue and White Classic this weekend.
The Dragons will open the tournament on Friday, March 8 with a pair of games against Albany at 9 a.m. and Norfolk State at 1:30 p.m. Drexel will then challenge Albany again the following morning at 11:15 a.m. and wrap up Saturday with a 1:30 p.m. game against Hampton. The final game of the tournament is against South Carolina State on Sunday, March 10 at 10 a.m. For the Dragons full schedule, click here.
Last Time Out
Drexel softball earned its third win in a row against Colgate to close out the Madeira Beach Spring Invitational on a Sunday morning, 5-3. Following an impressive weekend of softball, Kristi DiMeo was named the CAA Player of the Week while Brooklyn Daly earned CAA Pitcher of the Week.
Daly picked up three wins and had a perfect game in the 4-1 weekend for the Dragons. She only allowed three hits in four innings of work in a 10-3 win against Siena. She had a perfect game in an 11-0 shutout against Cornell where she faced 18 batters and struck out four in six innings. She later closed out the week with a win in a 5-3 victory against Colgate where she allowed two hits and one run while striking out three in four innings of work.
DiMeo had a standout weekend for the Dragons, hitting 10-for-18 for a .556 average. The sophomore tallied four home runs and 13 RBI, earning her College Sports Madness Conference Player of the Week honors. DiMeo now leads the CAA with a .441 batting average, six home runs and 16 RBI.

After Sunday, Drexel will return to action in five days for its final tournament of the season. The Maryland Invitational kicks off March 15 where Drexel will compete against Bryant, Rhode Island and Saint Peter's.
