PHILADELPHIA - The Drexel women's lacrosse team could not overcome an early deficit as the Dragons fell to Hofstra in the 2019 season finale, 19-11. The Dragons trailed by nine after the first half, 12-3, but scored seven of the first eight goals of the second half to make it a 13-10 game before the Pride regrouped and pulled away late.

Karson Harris scored four goals with an assist to lead the Dragons (6-10, 1-4). Colleen Grady added a pair of goals with an assist. Hayleigh Simpson netted two goals, while Cassidy Delaney, Maggie Stetson and Jamie Schneidereith added a goal apiece. Grace Osterdale added a pair of assists. Grady won six draw controls while Harris picked up three, leaving her with a program record 90 for the season. That also stands as the sixth-most draws in a single season in CAA history.

Harris and Grady finished tied for the team lead with 35 goals scored, while Grady held a slight edge, 54-52, in total points. Her 19 assists finished tops on the team, as she has now led the Dragons in goals, points and assists in each of her first two seasons. Harris finished just behind with 17 assists. Grady now has 110 career points, 15th on the Dragons' all-time list. Her 43 assists are sixth all-time.

Saturday's game got off to a rocky start for the Dragons, who let up the game's first nine goals before Simpson got them on the board with 13:22 to play in the opening half. That first goal seemed to settle Drexel, but the Dragons still trailed by nine, 12-3, when intermission hit.

After halftime, the Dragons looked like a different team. They controlled the ball and worked their offense efficiently, scoring seven of the first eight goals of the half. Six different Dragons scored in the run, with only Harris netting multiple goals. Suddenly, with 10:41 still on the clock, Drexel's deficit was just three, 13-10.

A pair of free position goals from Erin Demek stemmed the tide for Hofstra, and though another Harris goal at the 7:33 mark left Drexel within striking distance at 15-11, that would be their final push. Hofstra responded with four goals, including two more by Demek who finished with six on the day, to secure the victory.

The game was preceded by Drexel's annual Senior Day ceremony, as Delaney, Stetson, Osterdale, Katie Pappas and Sigourney Heerink were recognized. All five appeared in the starting lineup for the Dragons, with Heerink making her first career start in goal. She had a pair of saves.
