Women's Tennis Picks Up Sixth Straight Win With 7-0 Victory Over Lehigh

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Drexel Women's Tennis shut out Lehigh on Sunday by a 7-0 score for it's sixth win in a row. The Dragons improve to 6-1. Lehigh drops to 4-2.
Drexel got out to a hot start by sweeping the doubles point. At No. 1 doubles, Salma Ziouti and Šárka Richterová won their sixth straight doubles match by a score of 6-4. The team of Ghita Benhadi and Cristina Corte González picked up their fifth straight victory with a 6-3 win in the second-seeded flight. At third-seeded doubles, Tara Veluvolu and Mya Fuentes took the victory, 6-1.
In singles play, Fuentes finished her third-seeded matchup by a score of 6-4, 6-0. Richterová competed in the No. 2 match and defeated her opponent, 6-4, 6-1. Veluvolu was the next to finish and clinched the match for the Dragons with a 6-2, 6-3 victory.
Ziouti needed a tiebreaker set to beat her opponent in the first seeded match, 6-1, 5-7, 1-0 (3). Marta Martinez won her fifth-seeded match, 6-2, 6-3. González finished the perfect day for the Dragons by finishing her No. 6 matchup, 6-3, 6-2.
The Dragons return to conference play when they host Delaware on Wednesday at the Hecht and Hamlin Tennis Center at 10 a.m.
