Women’s Lacrosse Staves Off Colgate for Saturday Win, 18-13

PHILADELPHIA – The Drexel University women's lacrosse team (4-2) turned in an 18-13 win on Saturday afternoon at Vidas Field over Colgate University (3-3) as the Dragons staved off a late Raider comeback.
HIGHLIGHTS
* Drexel held an 11-4 lead at halftime before stretching it up to a 10-goal edge early in the second half, 14-4. After trading three goals, Colgate scored six of the final seven in the Dragons' 18-13 victory.
* 18 goals came as a season-high for Drexel.
* Junior Karson Harris tied for a game-high five goals and added two assists to finish tied for a game-high seven points. She also won a game-high nine draw controls.
* Junior Colleen Grady also finished with a game-high seven points behind three goals and four assists. Her assist total was a team-high and tied for a game high.
* Senior Jamie Schneidereith tallied five goals and one assist in the win for six points.
* Freshman Corinne Bednarik recorded three goals and two assists for her first career hat trick. She also won five draw controls and caused a turnover.
* Senior Courtney Dietzel scored a goal and dished out an assist in the victory.
* Sophomore Hayleigh Simpson also scored a goal and won four draw controls.
* Junior goalie Zoe Bennett (W, 4-2) picked up the victory, playing all 60 minutes with eight saves.
GAMEPLAY
First Half /
The Dragons started quickly, scoring the first four goals on the day. The two squad then traded goals until just past the midway point of the first half, 7-4. DU closed the half on a four-goal stretch to own an 11-4 advantage at the break.
Second Half /
In the first four minutes of the second half, Drexel gained a 10-goal lead and a running clock until Colgate cut back in with 20:50 to play. The Dragons scored three of the next five to take it back up to 10 at 17-7 with 12:13 remaining in the affair. Colgate scored six of the final tallies to cut that total in half as Drexel won 18-13.
