Schneidereith Scores Eight Times as Women's Lacrosse Defeats Georgetown, 21-9

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Lucy Schneidereith scored eight times and Drexel broke open a close game with a 10-goal run in the second half to defeat Georgetown, 21-9, on Saturday afternoon at Cooper Field. Karson Harris and Colleen Grady each added seven points as Drexel improved to 3-0 for the first time since the 2013 season. All three Drexel wins have come away from home. Harris also became just the 12th Dragon to score 100 career goals.

OVERVIEW
* Georgetown raced out to a 4-1 lead, but it didn't take the Dragons long to tie the game. Drexel scored three goals in a span of 2:06 to tie the game at 4-4. Karson Harris scored the first goal in the run. It was goal number 100 in her career. Just 20 seconds after that goal, Collen Grady found Lucy Schneidereith for her first goal of the night. She then scored again less than two minutes later.
* The Hoyas once again took a two-goal lead late in the half, but again DU answered. Harris and Grady each scored again to tie it up at 7-7 as the teams went to intermission. That started a five-goal run that continued into the second half. Lucy Schneidereith had a pair of goals sandwiched around a Corinne Bednarik score as the Dragons took a 10-7 lead.
*Drexel's offense really found its rhythm in the second half. After the Hoyas made it a two-goal game at 10-8, the Dragons answered with 10 straight goals to take a commanding lead at 20-8. Harris had four goals during the run, Lucy Schneidereith scored three while Grady, Cara Moreau and Courtney Dietzel had the others. The Dragons outscored the Hoyas, 14-2, in the second half.

HIGHLIGHTS
* Lucy Schneidereith's eight goals were just one shy of the Drexel record. She set her career-high with the eight tallies. Her previous high was seven last season against Manhattan.
* Karson Harris finished the day with six goals and an assist. She moved into 11^th place on the school's career goals list and now has 105. She also had nine draw controls and is now just two away from 200 in her career.
* Colleen Grady had a hat trick to go along with four assists on the afternoon. She was just one assist away from tying the school record. Grady is now tied for seventh all-time at Drexel with 162 career points.
* Jamie Schneidereith had an assist and led the team with three ground balls.
* Goalie Zoe Bennett picked up her third straight win in the cage and made nine saves.
* Maddie Fowler's goal was the first of her career.

BY THE NUMBERS
* Drexel outshot the Hoyas, 41-25.
* The Dragons had 16 draw controls, to Georgetown's 15.
* The Drexel defense caused eight turnovers in the game.

NEXT UP
Drexel is scheduled to visit Temple University on Wednesday at 3 p.m. It will be the fourth straight road game to start the season. The Dragons will play their home opener next Sunday vs. Villanova.
