Second Half Surge Moves Drexel Past Hofstra

PHILADELPHIA, Pa – The No. 14 Drexel women's lacrosse team stormed back from a two-goal deficit at the half to take a 15-11 victory from Hofstra. The Dragons improve to 11-1 on the season and remain undefeated in conference play, 3-0.
Prior to the game, the Dragons honored the careers of their five seniors including Courtney Dietzel, Arden Edgerton, Jamie Schneidereith, Danielle Senour and Rachel Warden.
OVERVIEW
* The Dragons attacked the Pride's offensive zone early, netting the first goal of the game with a one-two feed from Courtney Dietzel to Lucy Schneidereith. After Hofstra answered with one of their own to tie it, Schneidereith netted her second of the day with only five minutes underway on an assist from Colleen Grady.
* The Dragons and the Pride battled back and forth for points, exchanging goals for through the first ten minutes. Karson Harris sank her 48th goal of the year at the 17-minute mark, tying the game once more at three.
* The Pride took the largest lead of the afternoon (two) after a pair of goals at 16:30 and 15:28. Grady took matters into her own hands, moving the Dragons back within one with an unassisted goal.
* Hayleigh Simpson evened things out with a free position goal low and away at 11:24, tying the game at five a piece. Simpson's goal was only her third of the season. Despite a strong effort, the Pride caught wind again, taking a two-goal lead into the half.
* Harris opened the second half with her second goal of the day, moving the Dragons back within one. The senior midfielder followed with another on an assist from Jamie Schneidereith.
* The Dragons sank five unanswered goals to open the second half, giving them a three-goal advantage. The scoring run included goals from Harris (2), Dietzel, Corinne Bednarik and Grady.
* Hofstra collected their first of the half after being shutout 5-0, only for the Dragons to open things back up. Grady completed a hat trick performance and Jamie Schneidereith sank a free-position goal within thirty seconds of one another to open the lead to four.
* The Dragons offense continued to push, tallying three more goals before the buzzer to take the victory, 15-11
HIGHLIGHTS
* Harris led the Dragons offense for the second game in a row, tallying four goals in five attempts while forcing a caused turnover and winning four draw controls. The senior midfielders four goals makes her only the third Dragon in program history to net 50 goals in a single season. Harris is only three goals away from tying the schools record with 54.
* Grady notched another hat trick performance while also providing two assists for a team high five points. Saturday's game marks her 22nd career hat trick and 10/12 games that she has had a three plus goal game.
* The Schneidereith sisters each sank a pair of goals. Jamie's two goals puts her one away from 50 career goals and Lucy's moves her within five of reaching 100 career goals and becoming the 14th Dragon to accomplish the feat.
BY THE NUMBERS
* The Dragons found the back of the net 15 times in 25 total shots on goal. They have now recorded double digit goals in all 12 of their matchups this season.
* Zoe Bennett recorded seven saves in net in sixty minutes of play.
* Both teams recorded a 20-22 day on the clear. The Dragons picked up 16 ground balls to the Pride's 13.
* The Dragons shot fifty percent in man up, sinking four free position goals, two of which came from Jamie Schneidereith.
