Harris Breaks Single Season Goals Record in 17-7 Win Over Towson

PHILADELPHIA, Pa – The Drexel women's lacrosse team closed out the regular season with a bang, recording multiple milestone performances in their 17-7 victory over Towson. The Dragons will enter the postseason with a 12-1 record and a perfect 4-0 record in conference play.
OVERVIEW
* Towson took an early lead with a goal three minutes in, but Karson Harris quickly changed the pace, netting back-to-back goals to give Drexel a 2-1 lead, one of which came on an assist from Colleen Grady.
* Harris' goals kick started the Dragons offense as Lucy Schneidereith returned to the Tigers circle, forcing a free position for Drexel's third goal of the day. The senior midfielder added another for good measure on an unassisted attempt with 10 minutes left in the half.
* After the Tigers sank a goal to move back within two, freshman Maddie Fowler bullied her way into the circle for her third goal of the season. The Dragons offense caught fire, sinking two more goals from Grady and Jamie Schneidereith. With three straight goals, Drexel was able to take a 7-2 lead into the half.
* Towson opened the second half with the first score only for Drexel to go on a 3-1 run. Lucy Schneidereith went to work against the Tigers offense, tallying two unassisted goals in the 26th minute. Cara Moreau added a score of her own minutes later to give Drexel a commanding 10-3 lead.
* Harris became the second player to record a hat trick performance on a feed from Moreau at 21:27. The midfielder then added her fourth of the day on another feed from Grady.
* Despite some momentum from the Tigers, Schneidereith and Courtney Dietzel each sank a pair of goals to hold the advantage. Molly Weygand recorded her first goal of the season to secure the 17-7 victory for the Dragons.
HIGHLIGHTS
* Lucy Schneidereith tallied a game-high six goals, just missing her season-high (8). With her six goals, the senior hit a career milestone with her 100th career goal, becoming only the 14th Dragon to accomplish the feat. She also accounted for two ground balls and a caused turnover.
* Harris' four goals on the day broke the record for most goals in a single season (55), previously held by Emily Hoesch '06 at 54. The senior has now recorded 3+ goals in 11 of 12 games this season. She closed out a well-rounded day notching four goals, four ground balls, two caused turnovers and five draw controls.
* Grady provided three assists on the day, tying the single season assists record (33) with Kerry Kelly, class of '07.
* Jamie Schneidereith's solo score marks her 50th career goal as a Dragon.
* With Drexel's victory, head coach Jill Batcheller gets her 100th career coaching win.
BY THE NUMBERS
* The Dragons outshot the Tigers 22-14 while completing 22-26 on the clear. Drexel also picked up 20 ground balls to Towson's 17. The two teams went an even 13 on the draw control.
* Drexel forced 14 caused turnovers, tying their season record previously set against Temple on Mar. 3. The Dragons also tied their season high record in clears (22) which was set in their first meeting with the Tigers on Apr. 13.
* Goalie Zoe Bennett recorded seven saves for the second consecutive game.
* The Dragons closed out the regular season with a .790 shot on goal percentage, a .516 free position percentage and an .833 clear percentage.
