TOWSON, Md. – The Drexel softball team (28-10, 13-5 CAA) defeated the Towson Tigers (14-17, 1-11 CAA) in a single game on Sunday afternoon, 10-1. With the win, the Dragons complete the weekend sweep over Towson.

Meghan Conroy (5-2) started in the circle and pitched a complete game for the Dragons. The junior held the Tigers to one run on four hits through five innings.

Reilly Jo Swanson went 1-for-1 with five RBIs and scored two runs for Drexel. Swanson hit a grand slam in the first inning to give the Dragons an early lead.

HOW IT HAPPENED

With the bases loaded in the top of the first, Swanson cleared the bases in grand fashion with her second home run of the season. The round-tripper gave the Dragons a 4-0 lead.

In the top of the second, DiMeo doubled to right field to score Linda Rush and Grace Abbonizio. After the double, the dragons had a 6-0 advantage.

The Tigers scored their lone run in the bottom of the third with an RBI single.

In the fourth, the Dragons drew six walks to score four runs. With the bases loaded, Swanson was hit by a pitch. Clinton then drew an RBI walk. Jess Chen then scored on a wild pitch. During the next at-bat, Ashley Errico took an easy ball four and advanced to second on a passed ball. Scoring on the passed ball was Swanson.

With the Dragons in the lead, 10-1, the game ended after the fifth inning.

WHAT'S NEXT

The Dragons have completed the regular season and will compete in the 2021 CAA Softball Championship presented by Primis. The tournament is scheduled to start on Wednesday, May 12, at James Madison University.
